DIAMOND JUBILEE CELEBRATIONS
The Queens Jubilee celebrations were off to a joyous start at Mijas Bowls Club in Fuengirola on Sunday 3rd of June starting with, cream teas and traditional games in the afternoon followed by a superb barbeque, and music and dancing in the evening.
Visitors throughout the day played good old traditional British games, like darts, putting and skittles whilst listen to or singing along with popular music of the fifties. The President Rob Robinson proposed a toast to the Queen and everyone joined in to an emotional rendition of God Save the Queen and Land of Hope and Glory. Members and friends all entered into the spirit of the occasion by dressing in a patriotic manner and there was a prize for the best (most outrageous) costume.
A sumptuous barbeque was then enjoyed by all and served by the hardworking members of the Mijas Bowls Social group. After which the evening was rounded off with dancing and singing to a some slightly more contemporary music.
No time to recover Monday morning 9.30 am members were meeting for their weekly footbowl competition.
