CHRISTMAS FESTIVITIES AT MIJAS BOWLS CLUB
Report by Christine Wilson Photographs by Eric Wilson
The Christmas season began early at Mijas Bowls Club with the annual dinner / dance held on 10th December at Restaurante Valparaiso at which a group of bowlers and some friends enjoyed an excellent meal and some good entertainment before dancing the night away.
That was followed quite quickly by the Christmas Draw on Sunday 15th December when bowling took place during the morning. After the bowling came a buffet lunch which, on this occasion, was provided by the members. While all those present were enjoying carrot cake made by Jenny Parkin, the draw began and many superb prizes were won.
On Boxing Day bowling took place during the morning instead of the afternoon and, as if not enough had been eaten and drunk on Christmas Day, about twenty went for a pre-booked lunch to La Gavia in Torreblanca, a new venue for Mijas Club.
All these events were organised by Carol Wright, the Social Secretary, who is already busy working on the next event which will be Three Kings' Day. This year the celebration of the Kings is being held on Sunday 5th January as the Ladies' and Gents' Triples are due to begin at Mijas Club starting on Monday 6th January.
