An Afternoon of "Fun Bowling" at Mijas
Report by Christine Wilson Photographs by Eric Wilson
This particular afternoon's bowling should have taken place on Thursday 12th February to celebrate St. Valentine's Day, but on that day it rained, the green was unplayable, and as a result it was postponed until the following Tuesday, - and – on that day – yes, you have guessed right, it rained again!! There were so many other bowling commitments on the calendar that another date could not be found until 3rd March.
Hadyn Parker and Janice Ivil had offered to organise the bowling, provide the prizes, run a raffle and to donate the profits to Cudeca.
More than 30 members took part in the afternoon's activities which consisted of three sets of six ends each. The first of the three was using the measuring stick to decide the points, the second was the 3, 2, 1 scoring format and the third set was normal bowling except that whatever position players drew out of the bag, they had to keep and not change with another player on their rink. Each bowler was scoring as an individual and the winners were Geoff Hutton and Val Thornton. Following the two prizes being presented the raffle was drawn. Hadyn and Janice were thanked for a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon's bowling and they announced that a total of 135.50€ was raised for Cudeca. The occasion was well worth the wait!
