In house club competition February 2013
We have had wonderful weather for the clubs championships with the triples, pairís, singles, menís and ladies handicaps. It has been quite an event to organize, some unable to bowl because of illness or holiday. Roberto Wright needs our great thanks for all he has had to put up with and still be sane. Well done Roberto.
The Triples final was between Kevin, Janice and Geoff, against Rob, Sue and John. It was a good match to watch as it was quite a close game for the first half, but by the 16th end the score was 16-10. At the last end with a round of applause for both teams, Robís team won. It had been a long day for both teams with two games to play.
The Pairs have been quite a good group to see as there have been some wonderful games that ended with very slim margins by one wood on the last end. In the final on a very windy day, it was Kevin and John against Alan and Chris. This was good to watch as it was quite windy, by the 11th end they were more or less equal but Kevin and John advanced to 23points, Alan and John 17 points by the 18th end. So Kevin and John are the doubles champions.
The ladies singles saw some good matches but the final was between Ann Fenton and Pauline Ball. This was a lovely game and they were equal at half way. Then Pauline took the lead and Ann could not catch her. Pauline is our new lady Champion, well done for both ladies.
In The Menís singleís competition Frank Ball played Don Smith. In this match Don led from the start and Frank could not catch him, well done Don
The Handicap Singles will be played a little later this month as time was short and it could not be fitted in on time.

At last I can report on our Handicap Singles competition. The semi final between Frank Ball and Ann Fenton was a very close game and a joy to watch, with Ann taking the game on the last end. The other semi was between Geraldine and Roberto, with Roberto beating Geraldine by a big margin. The Final took place on Sunday afternoon in the sunshine. It was between Roberto Wright and Ann Fenton, The match had to be played late, but the result was very deserving and Ann played very well to win the game. What a wonderful year Ann is having, she has come on very well and we are proud of her. Ann received the trophy from our captain Barbara land. Unfortunately Barbara has to give up her captaincy for health reasons. We wish her good health and thank her for all her work as captain. The new captain will be Roberto Wright. We wish him luck in the job and I am sure he will do it well.
